北京大学建筑学研究中心在一年级设立“建造工作室”的目的是希望学生通过亲自参加建造的全过程来研究建筑，从中得到对于材料、结构、空间以及建造的感性认识。 《北大建筑2：79号甲+》记录了一年半以来两期学员的建造活动。建造的题目是中心后院（北大镜春园79号甲）加建木工及机械加工车间，约30平方米。北大建筑一期学员陆翔、黄源设计建造了胶合板结构的车间。二期学员杨帆、钟鹏、黄燚、韩彦利用回收的矿泉水瓶设计制作了车间顶棚的透光保温盒。
